C-130 Blue Angles Fat Albert History:

The C-130 Hercules is an American four-engine turboprop military transport aircraft that was built by Lockhead. She is used as the main tactical airlifter for many military forces worldwide. In December of 2006 the C-130 Hercules became the fourth aircraft to mark 50 years of continuous use with its original primary customer, the United States Air Force.

The C-130 Hercules known as “Fat Albert” is assigned to the U.S. Navy Blue Angels flight demonstration team. Fat Albert is flown by an all Marine Corps crew consisting of 3 pilots and five enlisted personnel. She flies more than 140,000 miles during the course of a show season. At some air shows Fat Albert will demonstrate her Jet-Assisted Take-Off capability. She is able to reach 1,500 feet in a matter of seconds, due to the eight solid-fuel rockets that are attached to either side of the aircraft.
