Includes desk stand. EA-6B Prowler Airplane History: The EA-6B Prowler is manufactured by Grumman which is now Northrop Grumman Aerospace and is a twin-engine, mid-wing, electronic warfare aircraft. She first flew on in July of 1971 and she is still in active duty today. The Prowler’s primary users are the United States Navy and the United States Marine Corp. There have only been 170 EA-6B Prowlers made and each one cost around $52 million. The Prowler is operated by a crew of four, one pilot and three Electronic Counter-measures Officers, which are known as ECMOs for short. The Prowler gets her power from two non-afterburning Pratt & Whitney J52-P408 turbojet engines, which helps her reach speeds of 590 miles per hour. However, the Prowler is a very high maintenance aircraft. She is constantly undergoing equipment upgrades, more so than any aircraft in the Navy. Since 1995 when the EF-111 Raven retired that Prowler has been one of the primary aerial radar jammers in the Department of Defense. There are only 125 Prowlers that remain available today. They are divided between 12 Navy, 4 Marine, and 4 joint Navy-Air Force “Expeditionary” squadrons. Remarkable not a single Prowler has been lost in combat.
