Our prop driven fighter is made of solid kiln dried mahogany. Camouflage colors with black and white stripes. Made in 1:26.5 scale. Size is 14.5 inches long with a 18.5 inch wingspan. Furnished with desk stand. Hawker Typhoon Airplane Article: Hawker Aircraft manufactured the British single-seat fighter bomber in 1941. The Typhoon was originally intended to replace the Hawker Hurricane in the interceptor role, but the Typhoon took a lot longer to put together and be built. However, once she was finally ready for action she quickly became one the Second World War’s most successful ground attack aircraft. The Typhoon was primarily used by the Royal Air Force and the Royal Canadian Air Force. The Royal Air Force is credited to calling the Typhoon Tiffy. The Typhoon was designed by Sydney Camm and she went on her first flight on February 24, 1940. She was introduced in 1941 and was retied a few years later in 1946. There were a total of 3,330 of the Tiffy’s built. The Tiffy was 31 feet 11.5 inches long and stood 15 feet 4 inches tall with a wingspan of 41 feet 7 inches. Her empty weight was 9,800 pounds and her loaded weight was 11,400 pounds. She could reach speeds of 405 miles per hour with a range of 610 miles.
