SPAD XIII Airplane History: France is responsible for manufacturing the SPAD XIII, French biplane fighter that was mainly used in World War 1. She was one of the most successful fighter planes out there in her day. She was also produced in mast quantity at least 8,472 were built and more than 10,000 more were ordered but later cancelled. The SPAD XII saw her first flight on April 4, 1971 and only a month later the aircraft was being delivered to the French Air Service. Other air forces quickly got word of this great aircraft and wanted to get their hands on it, the United States Army Air Service ordered 893 and kept them in service until 1920. Every air force that used this aircraft recorded great victories for team. The SPAD XIII was 20 feet 6 inches long and stood 8 feet 6.5 inches tall and had a wingspan of 27 feet 1 inch. Her empty weight was 1,245 pounds and her loaded weight was 1,888 pounds. Her max speed was 135 miles per hour and her armament consisted of 2x .303 Vickers machine guns.
