Fokker Dr.1 Blue/White Airplane Article: The Fokker Dr.1 Tri-Plane is easily one of the most recognizable airplanes out there thanks to the “Red Baron”. Even though this airplane gained a lot of fame during World War One era and had lots of success, it really had nothing to do with the plane but more so with the pilots behind the airplane. Even though the DR. 1 had great maneuverability, the design itself wasn’t too appreciated by many and only very experienced pilots had great success flying this aircraft. Due to this there were only a small number of the Dr. 1’s built, three hundred and twenty to be exact. The Fokker Dr. 1 Tri-planes were usually painted in a streaky olive brown color but there were a few that escaped that color combination, giving it a new twist in its design. For instance there was a Fokker Dr. 1 Tri-plane that was painted Blue and White. The front and wings of the aircraft were painted a very lovely blue color with the back and tail of the aircraft was painted white. The Dr. I was 9 feet 8 inches tall and 18 feet 11 inches long with a wingspan of 13 feet 7 inches. Her empty weight was 895 pounds and her loaded weight was 1,292 pounds. Her Max speed was 115 miles per hour and her range was only 185 miles. Her armament consisted of 2x7.92 mm machine guns and she was flown by a crew of one.
