She had outlasted many of her competitors like the Piper and the Cessna. Her development first came about in the late 1950’s. The first every Beech Baron to fly was on February 29, 1960, which like any aircraft, realized several changes needed to be made. The first Baron was delivered in early 1961 and just like any other aircraft more improved models shortly followed. The Barons came in two different types, the B55, which is a shorter body, and the B58, which was the longer body. Of course they also had many subtypes. The most definitive Baron model would be the B55 which was made up until 1982, but was constantly being refined. The B55 is 28 feet long and 9 feet and 7 inches tall, with a wingspan of 37 feet 10 inches. Her empty weight is 3,236 pounds and her max take off weight is 5,100 pounds. She can reach speeds of 233 miles her hour and has a range of 1,148 miles. She has the capacity to hold 5 passengers and one pilot.
