The 727 had a diameter of 148 inches, which allows the plane to have six-abreast seating. This means there are three seats on each side. The first ever 727 flew in 1963 and for well over a decade was the most produced commercial airliner, a total of 1,831 were produced. The sale record for the most jet airliners sold was broken in the early 1990’s when the Boeing 737 was born. The Boeing 727 is slowly being winged out of the airliners in November of 2007 only 76 Boeing 727’s were in service. With the ridiculous fuel costs and lower passenger volumes and the cost of maintain older planes the 727’s are being phased out of most airliners fleets. Delta Air Lines was the last major U.S. carrier to do this in 2003. However, the 727 is still used in start up airlines, cargo airlines and charter airlines. One interesting fact about the 727 is it was the first airplane to modify the design so that the airstair could not be lowered in flight. Thanks to D.B. Cooper parachuting from the back of a 727. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_727 This Boeing 727 Model Airplane is found under the following descriptions: Boeing 727 Model Aircraft, model aircraft, model airplane, aviation model, scale model aircraft
