The RAH-66 Comanche was a very advanced U.S. Army military helicopter that was built to take part in armed reconnaissance missions. She achieved this by being equipped with stealth techniques. Sadly the RAH-66 Comanche program was cancelled in February of 2004 before any of the helicopters could be put in service. There was a total of two RAH-66 Comanche’s built all together. The first one saw her first flight on January 4, 1996. The Comanche’s program got cancelled on February 23, 2004, due to the army’s lack of funds and that their existing helicopter fleets needed some attention. However, all the hard work and several hours that were devoted to the Comanche are not going unused. The U.S. Military has plans on using the technology developed for the Comanche to be used on future helicopter developments. The RAH-66 Comanche was 46.85 feet long and stood 11.06 feet tall. Her rotor diameter was 39.04 feet and her disc area was 1,197 square feet. Her empty weight was 8,690 pounds and her max take off weight was 17,175 pounds. Her max speed was 201 miles per hour and her cruise speeds was 190 miles per hour and her range was 302 miles. References: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAH-66_Comanche
