HH-65 Dolphin Helicopter Article:

In 1979 the United State Coast Guard selected the Eurocopter HH-665 Dolphin to be their new short range recovery air-sea rescue helicopter. The Dolphin is a twin-engine, single main rotor MEDEVAC-capable search and rescue helicopter. The Dolphin is built in the United States and is operated by the United States Coast Guard.

The Dolphin made her first flight in 1980 and was introduced to the world in 1985. The Dolphin is still an active helicopter with the US Coast Guard. A total of 99 Dolphins were built and delivered to the US Coast Guard. She not only is used for search and rescue roles, she is equipped to do many other duties as well. The HH-65 Dolphin has been used for homeland security patrols, cargo, drug interdiction, ice breaking, military readiness, and pollution patrol.

There were a few different models of the HH-65’s made one of them being the HH-65C, which id 44 feet 5 inches long and 13 feet 6 inches tall and has a rotor diameter of 39 feet 2 inches. Her empty weight is 6,333 pounds and her max takeoff weight is 9,480 pounds. She can travel at speeds of 184 miles per hour with a range of 409 miles. She is crewed by 4 2 pilots and 2 crew men.
