Concorde British Airways History: Concorde was a supersonic airliner that was manufactured and used by both the Air France and the British Airways. The Concorde was such a costly build that the two countries went init together to build and fiancé this plane. The signed a treaty stating that both France and Britain had equal shares in this airliner and that they would equally split the costs as well as the production and profits from future sales. Due to the huge costs involved with this airliner only 20 were built and on November 26, 2003 the Concorde retired. The Concorde was in service for 27 years with British Airways and made frequent transatlantic flights from London Heathrow to New York JFK and Washington Dulles. She of course flew these routes at record speeds in half the time it took other airliners to make the same trip. Unfortunately, due to the crash on July 20, 2000, and the economic effects from the 9/11 attacks and several other factors, the Concorde’s operations were stopped and her last flight took place on November 26, 2003. The Concorde can reach speeds of Mach 2. She is 203 feet long and has the ability to hold 100 passengers. Her cruising altitude is 50,000-60,000 feet. Her take off speed is 223 miles per hour and her landing speed is 186 miles per hour. She has a range of 4,058 miles. References: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concorde
